Ceasefire Oct 2025: Talking points - Supply and activities

Aid deliveries: Is MSF getting in more supplies now?

As of 14 October, there has been some improvement in the flow of supplies entering the Gaza Strip. However, in terms of medical humanitarian aid, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has not observed significant improvement in our supply access to Gaza. We don't know if it will improve in the coming days; no other entry points have been so far opened.

While some medical items and basic sanitation supplies—such as tents and hygiene products—are permitted under specific conditions that are difficult to comply with, we continue to face major constraints preventing us from bringing in the materials needed to restore water and medical infrastructure. Several MSF cargo shipments from Egypt and Jordan are still being delayed due to these restrictions.

This week, we were informed that items considered “dual-use”—including solar panels, and other logistical equipment—are still not allowed to enter. Humanitarian aid must be allowed to immediately flow freely and safely at scale across Gaza, including the entry of critical equipment needed to rebuild essential services and medical facilities.

What are the most urgent items MSF needs?

As a medical organization we are first and foremost in need of medical equipment and items to ensure Palestinians in Gaza have access to lifesaving and critical care. One of our main priorities right now is to increase the bed capacity until existing health facilities can resume normal operations. We need supplies that are often classified by the Israeli authorities as “dual-use” and therefore blocked from entering. These include essential items required to maintain hygienic and sterile conditions and to support our logistics. Among them are 9 desalination units to produce drinking water and 2250 latrines, as well as critical spare parts to repair MSF vehicles, generators, medical equipment, and washing machines.

Despite complex blockages by the Israeli authorities for humanitarian aid to enter, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), has continued its efforts to bring in supplies over the past two years. However, due to heavy restrictions on deliveries, MSF’s supply stocks in the Gaza Strip need to be refilled in every regard.

Are you seeing more food and daily life supplies entering Gaza?

According to our teams in the Gaza Strip, there has been a slight improvement in the flow of goods since the ceasefire began. More general supplies — such as fruits, vegetables, and cooking gas — are now available in local markets, and prices have decreased significantly compared to previous months. However, most of these items remain unaffordable for the majority of people in Gaza, many of whom have lost their homes, livelihoods, and savings.

Will MSF resume its activities in the north, including in Gaza City?

Leaving Gaza City was the last thing we wanted when we were forced to suspend our hands-on activities on 24 September 2025 amid the intensified Israeli offensive. Patients are priority number one. We try to go where patients are, so MSF teams are currently monitoring and assessing the situation in northern Gaza to determine whether conditions allow for the safe resumption of activities, as people are returning en masse to the north where there is a scarcity of medical services. We are committed to providing medical care to the people of Gaza, as MSF continues to work in the south and center of the Strip, and are calling for the massive and sustained scale-up of aid into and across the Strip, including the north
