Forced to stop Search and Rescue

The Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) search and rescue vessel the Aquarius has helped rescue nearly 30,000 people in the Mediterranean Sea since February 2016. After being forced to end its operations on December 6, MSF today returned the vessel to its owners—not because there is no longer a need for lifesaving care in the international waters between Libya, Italy and Malta, but for political reasons.
