The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has been felt in every one of MSF’s approximately 450 projects in more than 70 countries. Since the beginning of the pandemic, MSF has had two main priorities: first, to keep existing essential medical services up and running for the hundreds of thousands of patients who rely on us; and second, to prepare for, and respond to the spread of the virus itself. Tumaini Kombe is a Tanzanian health promoter with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) in Nduta refugee camp, north-western Tanzania, where MSF is the sole healthcare provider for 75,000 Burundian refugees. As the focal point for health promotion, Tumaini is working on preventative measures for a COVID-19 outbreak in Nduta camp through community engagement.
