Conflict in Sudan
On 15 April 2023, intense fighting erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Khartoum. The conflict has caused immense suffering. Millions of people have had to flee their homes and cross the borders to Chad, South Sudan, and other neighbouring countries. The majority, however, have remained in Sudan.

Lassa fever is a haemorrhagic fever that causes serious damage to various organs, reducing the body’s ability to function. The virus is contagious and can spread from person to person via bodily fluids, including saliva, urine, blood, and vomit. The disease affects 100,000 to 300,000 people every year across Western Africa and causes around 5,000 deaths.
