Since the Ebola outbreak was declared in Uganda in September 2022, MSF has been supporting the Ministry of Health's response.
Our teams are focussed on reducing mortality using a decentralised approach - having treatment centres closer to the patients and ensuring they have access to the right health care. Our teams have built two 40-bed Ebola Treatment Centres in Mubende, an eight-bed Ebola Treatment Unit in Madudu and an isolation unit in Kasanda, close to the epicentre of the outbreak. More ETCs are currently under construction.
From our experience with other Ebola outbreaks, we know the sooner the patients are admitted to a treatment centre, the better their chances of survival. Watch to see what an Ebola Treatment Centre looks like
