Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has sent a team in Turkana to conduct an assessment following a reported upsurge in Malaria cases in the county.
Two weeks ago, MSF deployed a medical team to Baringo County to assist the county’s Ministry of Health in containing a malaria outbreak in Baringo County that killed eight people.

In Baringo, MSF conducted medical outreaches in Kongor, Kulol, Simbiltany, Chuwuw, Toplin and Kongor areas in Tiaty SubCounty, testing and treating patients found with malaria and other morbidities. During the response, MSF saw 878 patients and put 99 patients who tested positive for malaria on treatment.
MSF also distributed 550 treated mosquito nets to residents in and around the affected areas, and provided medical supplies to boost the county’s stocks, including an additional 2,900 mosquito nets.
In Kenya, MSF works in Homa Bay, Kisumu, Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, Garissa and Embu counties responding to multiple emergencies and public health challenges .
