Water, waste, and vaccination: Fighting cholera and typhoid in Harare, Zimbabwe

In many of the city’s suburbs, public water supply is unreliable, and leaking sewage pipes, pit latrines, and poor waste management contaminate the groundwater. Burkina Faso: MSF scales up assistance to people affected by increasing levels of violence

Burkina Faso has faced increased levels of violence in 2019, leading to an exponential growth of population displacement throughout the year. The number of internally displaced people has grown from an estimated 47,000 people in December 2018 to over 765,000 in February 2020, according to OCHA – over 4 in 5 of them being women and children under 15 years old. Access to health services for populations who have fled or are living in the regions affected by insecurity is seriously jeopardized. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) launched several emergency projects to address the most urgent needs on the ground. Article - 25 Feb 2020

DRC's South Kivu: The sun that saves lives

In remote areas in places like the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where patients often have to walk for hours through the bush to get to a hospital, many health centres struggle with a very basic issue: a lack of access to electricity. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams have been coping with this logistical challenge for decades, usually by using diesel generators.
